What does your company do?
Yanda cosmetics, pioneers innovation in the South African beauty industry. We specialise in crafting skincare treatments for chronic skin conditions, catering specifically to those unable to afford prescriptions. Founded by a Medical Science student who battled chronic skin conditions without access to dermatological care, we're committed to affordable skincare breakthroughs that fuses scientific innovation with plant-based solutions.
What is your biggest success?
My biggest success lies in my journey, from a bedroom startup to an award-winning brand that is incubated by the Innovation Hub and recognised at the Nedbank YouthX Awards 2023 among others. I have dedicated the first few months of 2024 to rebranding and repositioning my brand as I embark on a new exiting journey of forming strategic retail partnerships.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Transitioning from being a "one woman show" to building a team has definitely been my greatest challenge. While empowering others and creating job opportunities is a fulfilling task I'm looking forward to, navigating this shift has been quite intimidating and as a student entrepreneur, building a capable team is very important for the sustainable growth of my business.
