Ithute Learning Resources
What does your company do?
I'm a self published author, I write children's story books about self-awareness and mental health. I teach children about inclusivity and changing the narrative through Storytelling.
I'm a board game designer, I design children's educational board games. My board games also cater for learners with learning disabilities like Dyslexia and ADHD.
What is your biggest success?
My biggest success was when I managed to illustrate my first manuscript with the stipend I received from doing my internship at the school near my place. Designing my two educational board games and managed to get a graphic designer.
My biggest success was the day I received an invitation to attend the opening of the library in my area as an author, I could see that my book had touched so many young lives. The day I woke up in the morning and decided to start a business with my writing and designing my educational resources that was my biggest success. The day I was able to publish my book by myself and launched my educational board games from the little stipend I received that was my biggest success.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle was when I was supposed to start with the illustrations of my manuscripts and my grandmother got sick and had to help her visit doctors while at the other side I had other commitments. As tough as it was financially, I still managed to start my business with the little money that I had. Even though it got really bad but I still managed to launch my business.
At some point in life I couldn't even buy myself clothes and buy groceries for my grandmother and I because all I wanted was to save up enough money for the things I needed for my business.
For me to start my business was really a struggle because it required me to do a lot of research, that demanded me to have access to the internet and to travel around, due to lack of resources and information at that time it brought some delays for my business. I can say because of the passion and the love I have for children and writing, there was no obstacle that pulled me back to continue.
