What does your company do?
We design and manufacture carefully tailored plus size female wear e.g Bridal wear, graduation, corporate and traditional wear .
What is your biggest success?
We started the business selling from a bag with no equipment, I used to design and send to other seamstresses to put the garment and sell we did that from 2012 - 2019 where I recieved sponsorship from SAB Foundation Thoulana programme where I bought equipment and started hiring my first permanent staff, we grew from selling from a bag to car booth , from car booth to Exhibitions and we first had our semi formal shop in 2016 where the business was formally registered. We're now supplying 7 shops Nationwide 3 shops in KZN , 3 in Jhb and 1 in Capetown , I currently employ 20 permanent staff ,looking back to where we coming from this is a huge success and we're still going strong, we currently dress the Zulu King MisuZulu 's second wife and we're also dressing the Television Cast for Umkhokha crew , we're now operating in 100sqm factory .
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Covid we have just moved to New premises and everything was coming together nicely 21 days later the country was closed down ,had to choose from going back to work where I was working and previous employers had already offered my job back or continue with building the brand, I chose to build the brand we managed to strive during covid and we got contracts to do face masks for Toyota and eThekwini Municipality and we were back on track , in exactly a month and 21 days we experienced looting where our production space was cleaned clean everything was loothed, this was the most devastating time of my life because we had to start from the scratch.
