Liz's Legal Trainee-Mentorship Program
What does your company do?
I am the founder of Liz's Legal Trainee-Mentorship Program, an initiative aimed at providing guidance and support to 3rd and 4th year law students across South Africa. Last year, the program had 10 mentees, out of which 7 secured vacation and/or internships. This year, the program has over 65 mentees, and I am confident that I will be able to secure vacation work for at least 50% of them.
My goal is to equip these students with the necessary tools and knowledge to enhance their legal experience and career growth. I am particularly passionate about assisting law students from disadvantaged groups, as I believe that everyone should have equal access to opportunities. With my experience and expertise, I am confident that I can make a significant impact in the legal profession and contribute to the development of future legal professionals.
What is your biggest success?
Bring able to secure vacation work for my students prior to the completion of their degree. To have substantive knowledge before their Articles of clerkship tenure.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Having to reach more students in rural areas who are unable to get vacation work because of limited legal organizations on their respective areas.
Internet issues due to loadshedding since most sessions are held online.
