What is your biggest success?

In 2006 I started working at Flip Botha Makelaars in Balfour. Mr Flip Botha conditioned and trained me for years to be his successor one day. My regulatory exams were successfully completed in 2011 and 2014 and I was appointed Manager of Short-Term Insurance at the company on 1 March 2016. On February 25, 2018, I successfully completed my Higher Certificate in Short Term Insurance through Milpark Business School with distinction. Mr Botha then started getting sickly and passed in June 2018. Today I am the sole owner and representative of Hannelie Viljoen Makelaars (Pty) Ltd and getting my own name out there is my greatest achievement and success.

What has been your biggest hurdle?

There were so many hurdles, but the biggest was lockdown. I received my official FSCA licence on 04/02/2020 and suddenly it was the March/April 2020 COVID lockdown. During that time all the Flip Botha Makelaars short term insurance portfolio clients had to be transferred to my own licence and new business Hannelie Viljoen Makelaars. I worked very hard to keep all my clients and to stay in contact and available. Fortunately in the end I did not lose a single client.
