What does your company do?
By way of background. The Deborah’s 972 is an accredited Non Profit Organisation with the Department of Social Development and registered as a law clinic with the Legal Practice Council. Our approach as The Deborah's 972 is to have thematic programs namely, research, advocacy and public interest litigation with specific bias to impoverished and vulnerable communities in townships and rural areas.The Deborah’s 972 has a specific focus on conducting legal research, providing legal information, advise and legal representation in Courts in general litigation matters which, inter alia include fundamental rights, resisting property evictions, resolving title deed and house permit disputes , broad family law matters involving child abuse and domestic violence.The Deborah’s 972, in pursuit of achieving its objectives, relies on the service of law students and law graduates to reach out to communities in need of legal services, mobilise the public to understand implications of different law's and Bills that the government intends on implementing. This will enable the law students and graduates to better understand concepts and principles of law to the facts of each matter. The main aim in working with law students and graduates is to teach them to stand for righteousness and justice
What is your biggest success?
Launching the organisation at the Constitutional Court and being able to represnt abused women in Court.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Funding the organisation and securing volunteers who are genuine social entrepreneurs at heart.
