What does your company do?
The Busy Bookkeeper and Partners is a registered woman-owned and led professional virtual accounting firm dedicated to supporting startups and SMEs in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa.
As a Certified Sage Business Cloud Adviser, Registered Accountant, and Author, Magdelene van der Walt founded The Busy Bookkeeper and Partners in 2017 to make a difference in the lives of fellow business owners, the KwaZulu-Natal community, and the young women she employs.
The desire to help others grow and succeed led to The Busy Bookkeeper and Partners' growth while allowing the proudly South African accounting firm to create much-needed employment opportunities for young mothers within the KwaZulu-Natal community.
What is your biggest success?
My biggest successes to date has been achieving KZN Top Business Woman of 2023, as well as being added the ''The List'' of Top Businesses in KZN, Winning 3rd place in Best Of Durban 2023 Readers' Choice Awards, Achieving an MEA Markets Award for 2024 and being nominated again for Best Of Durban 2024.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
The Biggest hurdle that I have experienced to date, was transitioning from self-employed to being a business owner, which included working on my mindset, working on translating what I had done as a ''solopreneur'' into creating actionable tasks for other people, as well as finding the right people for the job, as I did not have much experience in the hiring process.
