What does your company do?
HM Accountants is an accounting firm situated in Ermelo, Mpumalanga, South Africa. The firm rendered accounting, tax, business compliance and business development services.
The founder was inspired or maybe forced to start the business after she was retrenched twice from previous jobs.
Apart from running this business she believes in lifting others up.
Every year she hires a graduate so they can obtain their Diplomas which requires this practical side.
Every year she also sends one individual to get a qualification after matric.
She has also started a group of mentors that is mentoring young women on life after matric. Training them for interviews, workplace conduct, starting a business etc. This is still in a planning stage with first even coming up in Junes 2024.
She believes that it’s not just about profits but impact.
What is your biggest success?
The biggest success has been to be able to hire a college graduate each year so they can get the practical experience which is a requirement for them to get their diploma.
The ability to send one individual each year to an institution, to obtain skill. Skills include Trade test for an electrician, Safety Officer qualification, Nail Technician.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Reaching out to many SMMEs. The marketing part of the business is currently not going well.
