What does your company do?
We are in the motors industry selling pre owned motors vehicles.
What is your biggest success?
My friend knew I was in the motor industry for many years and pushed me to start my own dealership. There was one that I drove past every day and noticed they only utilized a part of the stand. I had requested if I could rent out part of the stand and they had directed me to the property owner. I had made an appointment which then found out the whole dealership, stand was up for rental. In the moment I had walked out signing the lease and then the real work began. I had started off with 1 vehicle with now over 20 vehicles in stock. I would say my biggest success is owning a car dealer ship which is a male dominant industry.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Many customers, suppliers, and even employees may initially doubt a woman’s expertise or leadership in motor industry and women often have to prove themselves more than their male counterparts. Female entrepreneurs generally receive less funding from investors, and due to it been male-dominated.
The motor industry's business opportunities often come from a male-dominated networks. Gaining access to and being included in these networks can be difficult, limiting opportunities.
