What is your biggest success?
Our greatest achievement at Special Spark Autism Centre has been the transformation we’ve seen in the lives of the individuals and families we serve. One of the most rewarding moments was seeing a child, who struggled with communication and social interactions, make significant progress through our early intervention programs. Over time, this child developed the ability to express themselves clearly, make friends, and engage more confidently with peers.
Additionally, our family support programs have had a lasting impact on parents, providing them with the tools, resources, and confidence to better support their child’s growth. These success stories, alongside the growth of our community outreach efforts and awareness campaigns, demonstrate the profound difference we’re making in the lives of those with autism and their families. These achievements reaffirm our commitment to fostering a more inclusive and supportive society.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle has been securing consistent and sustainable funding to support the growing demand for our services. As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on donations, grants, and fundraising efforts to maintain and expand our programs. While we’ve had success with community-driven initiatives, the increasing number of families seeking support often outpaces our financial resources.
Additionally, overcoming the stigma around autism continues to be a challenge, as many individuals still face misunderstanding or exclusion in schools, workplaces, and social environments. Educating the broader community and advocating for systemic change remains a key focus, but it takes time and persistent effort.
Despite these challenges, we remain committed to our mission, continually seeking new funding opportunities and community partnerships while working hard to raise awareness and promote greater understanding of autism.
