Cooktastic Hub NPC

What does your company do?

Cooktastic was launched in 2019, to deliver direct social change opportunities for youth in Cape Town through a holistic programme of culinary training, personal development, and placement in the hospitality industry. Cooktastic has trained 222 students, with 201 graduates (21 are still in training) being placed at their hospitality partners. Cooktastic achieves an employment rate of 85% with 15% of trained youth choosing to work front of house or pursue and entrepreneurial journey. Cooktastic is the 100% shareholder of “Chumani (Pty) Ltd “, a bistro and bakery business, making Cooktastic a hybrid social enterprise. Through the sale of products and services through Chumani the hybrid social enterprise regenerates an income. The vision over the next 3 years is to be a full hospitality solution – developing youth into Chefs, Baristas, Bakers, Waitrons, Front of House, and Housekeepers. It is Cooktastic’s belief that through youth’s social and economic transformation, they will actively contribute to the local economy and the hospitality sector within Cape Town. It is an opportunity to support the achievement of equality in a highly divided sector. The Cooktastic business model strives to achieve sustainability through its social enterprise, which is 100% owned by the Non-profit Company.
