What is your biggest success?
As a female plumber one of my biggest successes has to be establishing a strong customer base through quality service and reliability. Gaining trust in a field that’s traditionally male-dominated, building a reputation for expertise and professionalism has been a significant achievement. Additionally, being able to expand the business through hiring additional staff and also increasing the range of services offered, overcoming challenges, creating a positive impact in the community, and setting a foundation for future growth. I have also taken some time to develop my business skills and Knowlege last year l enrolled on a development program called Allan Gray Makers which is a program meant to help upcoming business people to sharpen their skills of which l graduated on the 13th of December 2023 which l consider as one of my biggest success , This year again l enrolled at University of Johannesburg Business School under RAA program the program is still on going and l consider that as one of my biggest success also.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
One of the biggest hurdles that l have faced is the gender imbalance in the industry. With women representing only a small percentage of the plumbing workforce, gaining recognition and respect from peers and clients has been very challenging. Access to financial help has also been very difficult as most people do not have faith in Female plumbers and it becomes difficult for them to want to invest, business knowledge, and profitable markets are significant barriers that women entrepreneurs often encounter. also navigating compliance requirements and bureaucracy, which is very daunting for new businesses. Overcoming these obstacles requires resilience and determination.
