Ihata Care Group
What does your company do?
Ihata Care Group, comprises of 3 Elder care facilities and a Shelter for abused women and children. Our main focus is to help those who cannot help themselves and to ensure they get nothing but the best love and care while they are with us.
The elder care facilities are frail care centres focusing on the less fortunate elders as it is funded by the Department of Social Development. We have just over 300 residents in our care which we provide with 24/7 care, including the necessities they require on a day to day basis.
We started as a shelter for abused women and children then got the opportunity to take over 3 elder care facilities which were about to be closed down. Our CEO and COO (Nuraan Osman) made the decision to apply for these homes and we have been looking after the elders for 3 years now and have been noted by Department of Social Development as a prescribed service provider.
Our shelter for abused women and children takes on a holistic approach where we focus on healing the trauma and gaining access to moving into a better lifestyle and creating a new life for themselves and their children.
What is your biggest success?
Wining the Business Women of the Year award in 2016 was by far my greatest achievement and will forever push me to do more within the industry
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Losing funding was our biggest hurdle shortly before Covid came into our lives. We however had market days and that carried us through until, penny appeal South Africa jumped onboard and kept us afloat just before we took over the 3 old age homes.
