What does your company do?
Baked By Opy is a cake shop that specializes in themed cakes, during COVID we then decided to expand our product range by supplying rainbow cake and cupcakes to a few Spar stores, we offered cake slices (desserts) o Uber eats which allows our customers to be able to buy that sweet treat whenever cravings arise.
At Baked By Opy we also offer beginners baking and cake decorating classes as well as cake decorating team buildings.
What is your biggest success?
Being featured in the Forbes magazine, and many other media channels, however the biggest win for us was being able to get into the retail space and learn how to do business B2B. Another success was finally getting to start with our ISO22000 implementation for a Food Safety Management System.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Employing qualified enough staff to do the job without being macro-managed as well as mass producing without the right machinery in place, my staff was always overworked.
