What does your company do?
We are a mobile kitchen unit that sells fresh cooked food daily on the downtown streets of Emalahleni. We sell a home cooked meal with one starch, protein and 3 vegetables and added optionals too.
What is your biggest success?
Our biggest success to date has actually being able to operate and start the business, with no capital whatsoever I managed to put what little I had towards getting the initial groceries, branding and a card machine for my business and to date we are growing and have even managed to print out fliers to distribute to surrounding offices. This has been my biggest success in showing that with more work and dedication my business will grow from 1 kitchen to 10 around the city
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle has been access to funds to cover stockpiling non perishables so we don’t have to constantly buy them, the other big hurdle is transport as we are approached to cater now at various events but because we don’t have our own bakkie the transport takes up a huge chunk of the money that we make it would be better to have our own little transport.
