What is your biggest success?
The IMPACT of seeing learners from our previous cohorts graduating and having access to employment opportunities. This subsequently enabled them to provide for their families which in turn, promotes the SGDs goals of zero hunger and poverty. Over the past 5 years, we have successfully executed numerous projects/engagements to over 5000 pupils in schools and communities in KwaZulu-Natal. Our main project is conducting Career Guidance workshops in rural schools situated in Ulundi alongside our partners; Durban University of Technology, University of KwaZulu-Natal and Mahlabathini CMC. It is exciting to see learners from disadvantaged backgrounds getting access to post-school opportunities through our Career guidance workshops and Learner-Support programs.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Funding, as a social enterprise, we have had financial challenges which threatened the sustainability of organisation. We then developed and adopted a new model as a Social Enterprise, where we make our enterprise viable while making impact. This has greatly assisted to accelerate the growth of the enterprise whilst ensuring that we are sustainable.
