What does your company do?
Zulwi Hair is an hair services company that creates head-turning hairstyles for every occasion. We create detachable hair accessories for everyday woman who wish to enhance their hairstyles for day-to-day wear. We also style hair with these detachable, African hair accessories mainly for photoshoots, red carpet events and fashion campaigns. We sell our unique accessories as well as our hair styling services. Our vision is to tell uniquely African stories through hair art.
What is your biggest success?
We were offered a contract to do hairstyling for renown South African actress Siphesihle Ndaba for her magazine shoot cover for SA Creatives magazine. This has lead me into discussions with TFG for hair styling a campaign their AW25. Discussions are still ensuing
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Finding my niche. Hair is such a saturated industry, which is why we are only breaking even now. At first the company began as a hair products business, we sold our products online and through markets. We bought everything in bulk hoping to get into retail however after seeing how we had not defined our unique value proposition, it was hard to market ourselves. Once we realized that our love is in mixing hair, art and style, we have been able to book our perfect clientele
