What does your company do?
eKasi Bioscope is dedicated to fostering youth and community development. Operating as a mobile movie cinema situated in Umlazi, Durban, we specialize in showcasing African-themed films within township settings, aiming to facilitate discussions on social issues and brainstorm potential solutions through communal engagement and idea-sharing. Clients get to hire our cinema equipment for their functions - funerals, workshops, private movie nights and art festivals.
What is your biggest success?
To actually start the cinema in my community with the help of African Bank in 2018 and have our work documented by SABC 2 Kids News in 2023.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Staying relevant and trying to ensure that the cinema vibes don't fade away in communities.
