What does your company do?

skin xo is a South African skincare brand dedicated to providing effective, natural solutions for a variety of skin concerns. Our products are meticulously handcrafted in small batches to ensure the highest quality and are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. At Skin XO, we address a wide range of skin issues, from acne and oily skin to dryness and aging, using potent botanical extracts and nourishing plant oils. Our commitment to natural beauty is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in harnessing the power of Mother Nature to create skincare that enhances and celebrates your natural beauty. In addition to our focus on quality and natural ingredients, we are also committed to sustainability. All our packaging is recyclable, reflecting our dedication to protecting the environment.

What is your biggest success?

My biggest success has been the successful launch of skin xo. This journey was not easy, I registered my business name in 2021, it took me 2.5 years to officially launch my brand. It involved countless trials and formulations to create skincare products that meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness. Achieving stable and effective formulations was a significant milestone, as it required extensive research, experimentation, and dedication. Seeing the positive impact our products have on our customers’ skin and their enthusiastic feedback has been incredibly rewarding. Launching Skin XO has not only been a professional triumph but also a personal accomplishment, fulfilling my vision and childhood dream of providing natural and sustainable skincare products.

What has been your biggest hurdle?

The biggest hurdle I’ve faced in building Skin XO has been navigating the complexities of product formulation. Some formulations required up to 10 tries before I was satisfied with the final product. This process was both time-consuming and resource-intensive, demanding attention to detail and unwavering perseverance. In addition to formulation challenges, I had to undertake extensive learning and research about the skincare industry. Understanding the specific benefits of various ingredients for different skin types was crucial, as was sourcing high-quality ingredients, often without the necessary funding. Entering the market with a limited budget presented another significant challenge. Marketing and reaching our target audience require creative and cost-effective strategies to build brand awareness on a budget.
