Empowered Futures
What does your company do?
Empowered Futures is a dynamic organisation that is dedicated to empowering individuals to reach their full potential and create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Through a range of innovative programs and initiatives, including our collaboration with Bona Lesedi Secondary School, we provide comprehensive support, resources and opportunities for personal and professional development.
At Empowered Futures, we believe in the power of empowerment to transform lives. Our mission is to address pressing social issues and foster the overall well-being and empowerment of the communities we serve, while creating opportunities for students to excel academically, athletically, and in their overall wellbeing.
Our core areas of focus include educational and skills development, entrepreneurship (currently through a soap project we are initiating with our school), sports development, Health and well-being, community engagement and social impact.
In addition to our ongoing initiatives, Empowered Futures is proud to host a cricket festival that will serve as a platform to identify and nurture cricketing talent among students particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through the festival, we aim to provide opportunities for personal growth, leadership development and community engagement, while promoting the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and perseverance.
By empowering individuals through sports, education and community involvement, we are building a brighter future for all.
What is your biggest success?
My greatest achievement stems from the real, measurable difference we have made in individuals lives. We have identified students in need at Bona Lesedi Secondary School and provided them with essential goods. We have expanded this effort, reaching more students in need and promising to deliver every 2 months. Additionally, we purchased soccer equipment for a deserving student at UJ including essential food items and have committed on a regular basis to support his education. We supplies essential items to people experiencing homelessness. I personally hosted a few students to assist them in studying for their exams.
At the heart of the organisation is the commitment to making a meaningful impact of individuals’ lives and this remains central to our mission and vision.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Reflecting on our journey, despite our unwavering dedication to making a difference, the demand for support often surpasses our capacity to meet it.
Additionally, navigating logistical challenges such as distibution logistics has presented its own set of obstacles. When I started this business, I called on a close childhood friend to join me on this journey and she has been with me since. An additional hurdle has been having limited manpower, especially when myself and my partner have full time commitments from 9-5 jobs. Although done, it has made it challenging to deliver assistance promptly. However, we remain steadfast in our commitment to overcoming these challenges and continue striving to maximise our impact on individuals’ lives.
