What is your biggest success?
One of my greatest achievements has been being recognized by South African Heroes Awards for my work in Specialized Care and Community Activism. This acknowledgment affirmed my dedication to advocating for victims of domestic violence and creating safe spaces for healing and empowerment. Another proud moment was receiving international recognition from the International Peace Youth Group after successfully completing their Youth Empowerment Peace Class. This program deepened my understanding of peace-building and youth advocacy on a global level. Additionally, I was honored with the opportunity to become a regular guest on Mom Yvonne Chaka Chaka's Woman Radio SA, a platform that allows me to inspire others, share my journey, and raise awareness about issues affecting women and youth in South Africa. These experiences have strengthened my voice, broadened my reach, and fueled my passion for creating lasting change in communities.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
One of my biggest hurdles has been navigating spaces where my voice and mission were constantly overlooked or undermined, especially by those in positions of power. As a domestic violence survivor and GBV activist, I've often had to fight not only for justice but for recognition and support-facing intimidation, bureaucratic red tape, and a lack of accountability from government institutions. Despite having a clear vision and community impact, getting access to resources and securing sustainable funding has been a constant challenge. However, this has fueled my resilience and deepened my purpose. I've learned to stand firm, speak louder, and build alliances that believe in change. Every obstacle has shaped me into a stronger advocate, committed to creating a safer, more compassionate world for others who are silenced or struggling to heal from trauma. My journey is proof that purpose can rise, even through adversity.
