Mitchells Plain Entrepreneurs Hub
What does your company do?
Mitchells Plain Entrepreneurs Hub is based in the community of Mitchells Plain, Cape Town; a historically marginalised community of over a million citizens. We support local entrepreneurs through research, support, influence and education. We run a community market on the first Saturday of each month, support entrepreneurs with free business programmes, offer business services, digital marketing services and run a Youngpreneurs programme.
What is your biggest success?
My name is Lucretia Jardini (née Splinters) and in 2021 I was selected as one of two people to participate in Facebook's Community Accelerator Program. We received funding, mentorship, etc. support to fulfill community objectives. In 2023, I was selected as a Google Women Techmakers Ambassador and I am a board member for the Southern Africa Region - to create a world where all women can thrive. In 2024, I received a Civic Award for my work that I do in community for Ward 81, Subcouncil 17 and the City of Cape Town.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle is that I am disabled. I am currently in a wheelchair due to rheumatoid arthritis but I am always hopeful and this keeps me pushing on.
