What is your biggest success?
My biggest success has been the launch and global recognition of Birthmark Of Africa wines, which not only tells a personal story through its unique brand, but has also received international approval . From being featured in a renowned high - class restaurant and hotel in Waterfront and Cape Town , into receiving a positive response from wine buyers and importers in Denmark, and expanding our reach to countries like Australia, this journey has been truly fulfilling. Moreover, our wines have been recognized for their excellence, and notably, our brand has achieved remarkable milestones, including winning a trophy and double gold award, as well as earning prestigious Platter's star ratings. The combination of personal significance, professional achievement, and these honorable recognitions makes this my biggest success.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdles I've faced is navigating the challenges of growing a business with limited resources. Securing sufficient finance to reach its full potential has been a significant obstacle. Limited financial resources have restricted my ability to invest in crucial areas, such as purchasing wine samples for client tastings and funding marketing and branding initiatives. Additionally, this financial constraint has hindered my ability to employ the right team members to support key areas like strategy, sales, and promotions. This lack of capacity has required me to wear multiple hats, slowing down growth and making it difficult to scale effectively.
