Aborvitae Academy
What does your company do?
We started an educational academy to address a significant gap in the foundation phase of learning. Our approach includes aftercare, extra classes, and targeted support to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and emotionally. Recognizing the importance of early development, we also opened a preschool that focuses on building strong fundamentals through play-based learning and therapy, helping children become truly school-ready. Our academy caters to preschool, primary, and high school learners, and our curriculum is fully CAPS-aligned, ensuring consistency with national education standards.
What is your biggest success?
Our biggest success has been the profound difference we've made in the lives of the children, their parents, and the broader community. By providing individual attention to each child, we create a nurturing environment where they feel truly seen, heard, and understood. This personalized approach has helped build their self-confidence and emotional resilience. We focus not only on academics but also on essential life skills—teaching children how to manage stress, cope with anxiety, and develop healthy social interactions. Parents often share how their children have become more expressive, calm, and socially aware since joining our academy. We believe every child deserves a safe space where they can grow holistically, and witnessing that transformation—academically, emotionally, and socially—has been our greatest achievement. The positive ripple effect on families and the wider community continues to motivate us to do more, and do better, every day.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle has been navigating the challenges that come with limited financial support. Many of the families we serve are unable to pay consistently, yet we remain committed to providing quality education to every child, regardless of their financial situation. This has placed a strain on our resources and operations, but we believe every child deserves a strong start. Another significant challenge has been the lack of basic structure and foundational learning in many of the children who join us. We often need to start by rebuilding the fundamentals—especially in the foundation phase—before any real academic progress can be made. It requires extra time, effort, and patience from our team, but we’re passionate about filling those gaps and giving each child the support they need. Despite the obstacles, our dedication to empowering young minds keeps us moving forward. The impact we see makes every challenge worth it.
