What does your company do?
Christen Aksie Netwerk (C.A.N.) is a non-profit organisation focused on upgrading, beautifying, and restoring public spaces in the Durbanville area. We identify high-impact areas such as traffic islands, sidewalks, community spaces, and heritage sites, then plan and implement improvements in collaboration with local residents, businesses, and the City of Cape Town. Our work extends to institutions like the Durbanville Children’s Home, Rust-en-Vrede Arts and Culture Centre, and Huis Aristea, where we contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of their outdoor and communal environments.
What is your biggest success?
Seeing C.A.N. grow as a community network—starting with our first garden restoration at Rust-en-Vrede, my favourite achievement.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Navigating the challenge of securing funding and community support to bring C.A.N.'s projects to life, especially during the early stages.
