KGALISHIBE (PTY) LTD
What does your company do?
It is a bakery business. We bake bread and buns and supply local shops as well as selling directly to the public.
What is your biggest success?
I have acquired a partnership with 23 local shops this year. My business was badly affected by COVID-19 job cuts, as most of our sales were at the mine gate. The numbers dwindled from 200 units sold at the gate to 40 units. Instead of closing down, I had to re-strategize and find a better way to keep high sales. I then started approaching local shops and was able to keep afloat. I have not yet been able to restore as high sales as I used to make before 2020 but my partnership with the local shops are yielding results and will be able to achieve stability.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Having to steer the business post-COVID-19
has not been easy. Our villages are sparsely distributed, so travelling to the people brings a lot of costs. These costs need to be set off otherwise, they eat up the profit. I also need to have a bigger vehicle to carry the stock, as I currently have to make many trips going back and forth.
