What is your biggest success?
One of my business’s biggest achievements has been preventing numerous amputations by providing affordable, accessible foot care to people who otherwise would not have received treatment. Over the past 11½ years, I’ve built Hilary’s Mind Body and Sole into a resilient and purpose-driven enterprise, surviving the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing to operate even while I was recovering from major surgery. I’m especially proud of being selected as one of the Top 5 Entrepreneurs at TSIBA Business School and being featured in their publication, which recognized the social impact and innovation behind my work. Educating the public has always been important to me, and being invited to speak on Voice of the Cape radio about foot health was a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness. I’ve also developed a natural pain relief oil, which has become one of my top-selling products and is now available in select pharmacies. Building strong relationships with doctors and nursing professionals has helped me offer more comprehensive care to my clients. Together, these milestones reflect the heart of my business: making a real difference in people’s lives through care, education, and innovation.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest challenge at the moment is the unreliability of my car. As I regularly do call-outs as part of my work, having a dependable vehicle is important . Unfortunately, my current car has been unreliable, which makes it difficult to get around and serve my clients effectively. This has created some logistical challenges and impacted my ability to maintain the level of service I aim to provide
