Legacy Relay
What does your company do?
Legacy Relay is a South African social enterprise focused on facilitating intergenerational skills transfer to promote mental health and wellbeing across generations. Through a portfolio of impactful projects—ranging from Deaf community integration, youth digital filmmaking, to elderly reintegration—Legacy Relay bridges the gap between generations, fosters job creation, and empowers marginalized groups, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
What is your biggest success?
Greatest achievement is to be the founder of a South African nonprofit committed to bridging generational divides. To enhance mental health, youth empowerment, and the inclusion of marginalised communities, including the Deaf and elderly. Innovative approach to skills transfer and storytelling inspires connection, healing, and community resilience.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
We rely heavily on volunteer “Help Workers” and partnerships, but without a full-time coordinator or long-term funding, scaling and maintaining momentum becomes difficult. Navigating bureaucracy and limited resources while trying to uphold the mental wellbeing of our team and beneficiaries has tested both resilience and creativity.
