Babesgotbytes
What does your company do?
BabesGotBytes is a youth- and women-led nonprofit organisation that empowers young women and girls in underserved communities through coding, digital literacy, and technology education. Our mission is to close the gender gap in tech by providing free access to skills training, mentorship, and career development opportunities in the digital and innovation sectors. We run workshops, bootcamps, and community-based tech hubs that foster creativity, leadership, and entrepreneurship—equipping participants with the tools they need to thrive in the digital economy.
What is your biggest success?
My greatest achievement has been successfully transitioning from a career in education to the tech industry an inspiring and challenging journey that redefined my purpose. As a qualified educator, I took a leap of faith and upskilled myself through a Financial Management certification with GIBS and became a certified Cisco Instructor. These credentials strengthened my foundation and allowed me to blend my teaching expertise with technology. I went on to create BabesGotBytes, a platform where I teach digital literacy, coding, and entrepreneurship to young women from underserved communities. This transformation has empowered me to inspire others especially women to believe in their potential to innovate, lead, and thrive in tech. My story reflects resilience, lifelong learning, and the power of reinvention.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle was overcoming self-doubt during my transition from a secure career in education to the fast-paced, constantly evolving world of technology. As a woman with no formal background in tech at the time, I often questioned whether I belonged in this space. Balancing the demands of upskilling, motherhood, and building a new career came with emotional and financial pressure. There were moments I felt invisible in rooms dominated by experienced tech professionals. But I reminded myself that my purpose was bigger than fear I was creating a pathway not only for myself but for other young women who needed to see that it’s possible. Through perseverance, I earned certifications in Financial Management from GIBS and became a Cisco Instructor. These steps helped rebuild my confidence and solidify my place in tech. Today, I use my journey to empower others facing similar barriers.
