What does your company do?
polka.dot.coco is a brand that specialises in handmade accessories using mainly sustainable upcycled materials and giving them a second chance, just like people. Look stylish while keeping our environment and landfills clean.
What is your biggest success?
Being granted opportunities to showcase our work in Ethiopia, France, UK, having the United Nations come to our home to capture what we do under a SheTrades programme and then also granting our brand to be a panelist in Abu Dhabi last year at World Trade Organisation event. But the biggest core achievement is the one currently taking place, seeing our very first girl who I met at an Orphanage many years ago. After we lost contact and when she left , she met a very abusive men. She searched for me on Facebook and she needed to speak to someone as I also mentored her back at the Orphanage. To cut the long story short, we kept in touch until this point. She will attend the Course for one week and I know this is a beginning of a new chapter for her and her children. There were tears of joy from both ends. We need this for many many children. But we need help, we sometimes can't even draw salaries for ourselves but we pulled this one. There is so much that we can get done. We need your help please.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Space space space. If we can get a working space, equipment, market entry and a car, we can change so many lives and our environment around. It is possible. So many people believe in us and we do too. We need working space. We currently work from home and we have run out of space. It is a mission as we have to pack up if we have visitors, all the time. We need space a car, nothing fancy, international market access.
