Quality First Training and Support (PTY) LTD
What does your company do?
Quality First Training and Support (QFTS) specializes in delivering Quality Assurance training in the healthcare sector. We offer comprehensive courses in equipping healthcare professionals with essential skills and knowledge to effectively support patients, enhancing their proficiency in testing correctly for HIV and blood collection techniques.
We have found gaps in the healthcare system and are closing them by providing much needed skills awareness workshops. This will benefit the participants with correct skills, techniques and confidence but most importantly, positively impact our patients with accurate results. Ultimately patients will receive appropriate treatment, care and management.
Our most popular courses are:
HIV Counselling and Testing and RTCQI : HIV Quality Training
Basic and Advanced Phlebotomy
IV Cannulation
IPC: Infection, Prevention and Control
Medical Terminology
What is your biggest success?
Since our inception in 2021, Quality First Training and Support has successfully attracted participants to both our online and classroom workshops. We have continuously adapted our offerings to meet evolving needs, making strategic adjustments to foster growth and ensure relevance. Our consistent, timely completion of each project phase laid a solid foundation, culminating in our successful delivery of a national training program for the University of Zululand in December 2021. One of our most notable achievements to date has been the DGMT - KeReady project in May and June 2024, which significantly elevated our profile nationally.
This exposure opened doors for additional opportunities, leading to training collaborations with prominent organizations such as UKZN HPP for nurses and HIV counselors in 2024 and 2025, as well as projects with Perumal & Partners Radiologists at Ahmed Al Kadi Hospital in Durban, and the Inkunzi Isematholeni Foundation funded by NACOSA.
Being able to training and provide mentorship post training is the biggest success. We still maintain communication with our classes from 2021 to current.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
I am deeply passionate about delivering high-quality training that aligns with relevant guidelines, policies, and compliance standards. Our main challenge has been the delay in obtaining accreditation through HWSETA, QCTO, SANC, and HPCSA due to processes and finances.
While we currently offer skills awareness workshops led by skilled, accredited subject matter experts, our next goal is to secure CPD accreditation and QCTO recognition to better serve both the private and public sectors. This process has proven to be lengthy, costly, and complex. Additionally, we have purchased equipment as we planned workshops but we face financial constraints in acquiring new training tools and resources, as equipment wears out over time after multiple workshops. Many potential participants also struggle with the costs of attending our classes, leading to delays in accessing valuable training despite high demand and interest.
