What does your company do?
Suppasilk byzomzi is a fabulous brand that fuses fashion and skincare into one holistic expression of beauty. Our design house crafts elegant garments from sophisticated evening wear and chic smart casual pieces to culturally rich African and traditional attires each created with care.
What is your biggest success?
My biggest success was seeing my vision come to life on a runway, worn by models who embodied the spirit of the collection. Winning an award was an incredible moment, but the true success was the recognition of my design voice—especially because the collection was rooted in my heritage and sustainable values. It proved that fashion can be both deeply personal and globally relevant. That moment validated all the late nights, the risks, and the passion I poured into every stitch."
What has been your biggest hurdle?
For me It's been Financial constraints.
Launching and sustaining a fashion brand requires significant capital—for materials, production, marketing, and showcasing collections. Managing cash flow while staying creative is a major hurdle.
Balancing creativity with business:
Fashion is an art, but it’s also a business. Many designers find it difficult to maintain their creative vision while also creating pieces that sell and appeal to the market. Another one was dealing with rejection and criticism.
Like any creative field, fashion comes with rejection and harsh critique, which can be a heavy emotional burden, especially early on.
