Hold That Smile Photography (PTY) ltd
What does your company do?
I run a photography business that specializes in capturing life’s most beautiful and powerful moments. My focus areas are weddings, maternity sessions, and “flying dress” experiences. What sets my business apart is the full-service approach I provide—especially to expectant mothers.
Through a carefully curated wardrobe of stunning gowns, I take the stress out of planning what to wear and help my clients feel confident, radiant, and empowered. I guide them through posing and styling so they not only look beautiful in their photos but leave the session feeling more fierce, celebrated, and seen.
My mission is to create unforgettable experiences and timeless imagery that reflects the strength and beauty of each individual I photograph.
What is your biggest success?
One of my proudest achievements was being nominated for the African Excellence Awards 2025 and receiving the title of Best Wedding Photographer – Gauteng. This recognition affirmed the passion and dedication I’ve poured into my work.
What makes it even more meaningful is how it pushed me to give back. I’ve since hosted two successful workshops, training photographers in camera settings, editing, business setup, and networking. My goal is to help others grow faster by sharing what I’ve learned.
As someone living with a disability, I know the struggle of self-doubt. But I’ve learned that limitations don’t define us—our choices do. Despite challenges, my business is thriving, and I’m more determined than ever to grow, uplift others, and show what’s possible.
To me, success isn’t just awards—it’s using your journey to inspire and empower others. And that, I believe, is my greatest success.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
In November 2024, just as my business was taking off, my studio was broken into. I lost everything—camera gear, laptop, backup drives, and most devastatingly, client photos. Weddings, graduations, family memories—all gone. I had to refund clients, face their heartbreak, endure a lawsuit, and rebuild from scratch.
It was one of the hardest moments of my life, but I chose to rise. I embraced the emotions, then shifted into action. I explored new paths—hosting workshops, offering 1:1 mentorships, allowing photographers to shadow me, and even began building a photography app to support others.
This journey has tested me, but it’s also reminded me why I started: to create, to uplift, and to lead with purpose. Success hasn’t been easy, but my vision is stronger than ever. My God is bigger than any setback—and so is the impact I aim to make.
