What does your company do?
We are a group of mostly black women who are in a property stokvel. We use the collective funds we raise to invest in properties. So far we have invested in student accommodation and Short Term Letting (Airbnb).
What is your biggest success?
In 2019 we won the SA Investor of the Year award for the most innovative category.
We have been featured in print, radio and TV media.
We also been invited to speak at prestigious industry events and conferences.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Firstly it was obtaining an FSP license but we managed to get that. Now our biggest challenge is cadhflow challenges where NSFAS delays payments to private landlords which means we battle to keep up with our working capital needs and are also unable to expand our portfolio.
