What is your biggest success?
Overcoming the challenge of not getting the anticipated level of support from my existing contacts and networks. Everyone seems to preach to entrepreneurs that your network is gold and that's where you'll get leads and referrals. This was not the case for for me, despite a long list of contacts and potential clients for my solutions. I was not adequately prepared for the impact that this would have on my psychological well being.
I realised that I had to put myself out there, looking for new contacts and connections. Although it is particularly difficult to make sales from people you don't know (or didn't know prior to the engagement) I have learnt to be resilient in the process. Stepping out of the proverbial comfort zone has been my biggest success, teaching me that you have to be willing to stretch yourself in business if you're gonna make it work
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Not having back office support. A lot of the work involves a significant amount of admin and it's difficult to balance that with what sales requires from me and my day
