Wellness in the Workplace
What does your company do?
Wellness in the Workplace was founded by Mbali Mzinyane as a platform dedicated to breaking barriers in corporate environments by equipping new and experienced professionals with the necessary tools and insights to navigate workplace challenges. What began as a podcast has grown into a comprehensive service offering designed to promote employee wellness and mental health awareness in corporate settings.
Wellness in the Workplace also delivers practical solutions to enhance employee wellness, mental health and productivity in corporate spaces. Since its launch, the platform has expanded to offer the following services to organisations and individuals: workplace wellness advisory, workplace interventions, tailored employee wellness training and coaching and early career readiness training and coaching.
Wellness in the Workplace is committed to employee wellness and mental health awareness in the
workplace beyond the online content shared on the podcast and social media platforms. Both the company's services and content share relevant insight required in discussions pertaining employee wellness, the future of work and how organisations and individuals can sustainably ready themselves for this transition.
What is your biggest success?
Since its launch, the platform has garnered an audience across countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Botswana, United States and United Kingdom. With over 12 000 podcast plays on podcast streaming services and over 20 000 followers across different social media platforms, Wellness in the
Workplace has been featured on national radio and TV stations as well as at industry events where Mbali contributed to key discussions about the realities of corporate South Africa addressing topics such as navigating toxic work environments, mental health and themes related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) and re-imagining the future of work.
In 2025, Wellness in the Workplace was announced as one of the coaching providers at Signa Opportunity, offering professional coaching services focused on youth development and early career growth. Through this collaboration, Wellness in the Workplace works with young professionals and recent graduates to help them build confidence, develop essential workplace skills, and navigate their career journeys with clarity and purpose. At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in the workplace and beyond.
The platform has also received valuable feedback from audience members with followers and subscribers of the podcast citing that the insight and information shared on the platform is practical, relevant and useful in their professional life. Previous corporate clients have also shared feedback stating that the workshops provided by Wellness in the Workplace are engaging, relevant and created an open and supportive environment where their employees felt comfortable participating.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
As the founder and Head Coach, the company's biggest hurdle is scaling its impact and service delivery beyond the founder-led model. As the brand has grown from a podcast to a multi-service offering, there have been be challenges in building a sustainable business structure that does not rely heavily on my personal involvement, expertise, and network. Clients have associated the brand’s value primarily with my presence which has limited scalability and the delegation of key functions.
Additionally, as the company expands into corporate advisory and training, it is competing with established players in the wellness and HR consulting space, often with more resources and institutional credibility. Securing long-term corporate partnerships, hiring aligned talent, and maintaining consistent service quality while growing a team and client base is critical.
