What is your biggest success?
Our greatest achievement has been successfully launching and sustaining impactful youth empowerment programs that have reached over 5,000 young people across Limpopo. Through our educational support initiative, many learners have gained access to university and bursary opportunities, breaking cycles of poverty in their families. Our gender-based violence campaigns have not only raised awareness but also provided direct support to survivors, fostering safer communities. Additionally, our menstrual hygiene drives have kept hundreds of girls in school, promoting dignity and equal access to education. Being recognized by local institutions and partnering with the University of Venda for skills development has solidified our role as a trusted voice for youth empowerment. These milestones reflect our commitment to real, lasting change in the lives of young people.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle has been limited funding and resources to meet the growing needs of the communities we serve. While the demand for our programs—especially those addressing gender-based violence, mental health, and menstrual hygiene—continues to increase, securing consistent financial and material support remains a major challenge. This has affected our ability to expand outreach, retain skilled volunteers, and run programs at full capacity. Additionally, addressing deeply rooted social issues like GBV and stigma around mental health requires continuous community engagement and education, which demands both time and resources. Despite these obstacles, we remain committed and have learned to be resourceful, building strong partnerships and relying on community support to continue making an impact.
