What has been your biggest hurdle?
Mboma Financial Services faces ongoing challenges in expanding its Financial Literacy Program and Study Guide into more private schools around Gauteng. One of the main barriers is limited access to decision-makers. In the education sector, as in many industries, success often depends on “who you know.” Without the right connections, it is difficult to secure opportunities to present our offerings to school principals, curriculum developers or school boards. This lack of access slows down progress, despite the proven value and relevance of our content. The same challenge applies to the corporate training side of our business. As a small and growing enterprise, it is not easy to compete with well-established brands that already dominate the space. Many corporates prefer to stick with known providers, making it difficult for emerging businesses like Mboma to secure new clients, even when we offer high-quality programs, competitive pricing and have great reference letters. These barriers highlight the broader difficulties that small businesses face in gaining visibility and trust in both the education and corporate sectors.
