Malherbe Attorneys and Conveyancers
What does your company do?
I am a Sole Proprietor trading under the name Malherbe Attorneys and Conveyancers. I am practicing in Riversdale in the Western Cape and attend to matters relating to Conveyancing and Property Transfers, Wills, Deceased Estates, Trusts and Trust Administration, Curatorship Estates and Estates under Administration, Contracts and I am also currently furthering my studies to be qualified as a Notary.
What is your biggest success?
I am the first person in my family to have been able to attend University and to obtain a Degree. While I was studying towards my Bcom Law and my LLB degree, I was working full time and studying through UNISA and attended to my Articles of Clerkship while studying and working. I was admitted as Attorney in 2021 after I finished my LLB degree at the end of 2020 and was admitted as Conveyancer during 2023. My qualifications and the fact that I was an admitted Conveyancer allowed me to be able to open my own firm at the beginning of 2024.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My Mother passed away when I was 15 years old. Our whole world changed at that instance as we lost one of the breadwinners of the household and I had to start working during school holidays for extra money as there was only one breadwinner and I am the eldest. After school, I started working while studying and doing my articles of clerkship to firstly save time and secondly to earn an income to help support the household. Looking back, I can say that it was a tough time in my life, but challenges only make you a stronger person at the end of the day and that challenge in my life taught me a lot of lessons.
