What does your company do?
At House of Kganya, we believe in the power of scent to transform moods and create calming environments. We meticulously handcraft each candle using 100% natural soy wax, premium essential oils, and lead-free cotton wicks. Our unique blends are specifically formulated to address common mental health challenges faced by young kids, busy professionals, and adults alike.
What is your biggest success?
In 2025 my business managed to buy materials which I use when attending markets such as gazebo, chairs, tables, and a few brandings. I have committed to exposing my company on social media to which I have a few features on online papers such a Vuk'uzenzele, Sowetan, and other business pages. Having to register my business after operating for a few years without it registered is a huge success for me.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Finances have been a hurdle. I started my business in 2021 when I was unemployed, and I have been funding it ever since. A year after starting I fell pregnant my work ethic reduced. I could only attend one market in a year, and I was not making money at all. As a first-time mom balance was a biggest hurdle. Keeping up with raising a baby and having no funding is almost impossible, however, I never gave up. In 2025 each month has its own win even if sales differ per month.
