Pinkwounds PTY Ltd
What does your company do?
PINKWOUNDS specializes in the treatment of non-healing chronic wounds these include lower leg venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, post-surgery complications etc. These patients are referred to me by their treating Doctors. We use special machines, skills and specific methods as part of the treatment. We also treat patients who can no longer be treated as in-hospital patients due to hospital policies. Some of these patients may need to be discharged with other attachments such as urinary catheters; we provide the care for these catheters, prevent possible infections associated with the catheter and ensure its safe removal once the time comes. Pinkwounds works closely with other members of the healthcare team including Physicians, surgeons, physiotherapists, orthotists, psychologists, and dietitians. We offer referrals where it's necessary.
What is your biggest success?
1. I'd say getting started and building clientele was a success for me because I have faced many challenges, my business has failed a few times, and I have had to start over.
2. I have managed to make a trusted and respected name for myself amongst my peers, colleagues and patients I have worked with. Integrity is important to me.
3. I have managed to generate income, better and better each time when I have had to re-start.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
1. The first one was covid. It came with a list of new protocols. I was not financially prepared for that, and I lost a lot of money. I was new in the industry at the time and people did know me or felt they could trust me, therefore gaining that money back was difficult and challenging. I had to shut down.
2. I don't have a background in business management/ leadership. When I wanted to expand or grow, I faced challenges as my business was not registered with CIPC, and I was trading through my personal bank account. This is the hurdle that has kept me down the longest. I have since educated myself on this subject and made some changs. This has led to my business appear as if it was founded in 2024 (It was founded in 2019 and began to function in 2019 but was registered in with CIPC 2024)
none thus far. I have worked with a Locum nurse who treated my patients while I was on annual leave.
