What does your company do?
Our business is in the construction and rehabilitation of
roads and bridges including re-gravelling of rural roads
and the maintenance of highways. As an emerging medium
to large company, through our massive experience from
management, we believe that we have the capacity to
handle complex projects including the construction of new
road and new bridges.
What is your biggest success?
Contribution to Women Empowerment
Our goal and focus has always been on two pillars, to be leaders in a male
dominated industry and also to contribute meanigfully to women in
society.
We have a carefully thought out strategy in line with women empower-
ment and we have employed 92% of our workforce as women. We strong-
ly belive that once women are empowered with skills, resources and a
monthly salary, the community changes for the better.
I as the founding member of Sqwimntwana Construction pride myself of
this development and setting a benchmark for other to follow. Not only do
we have healthy staff members, but we have hard working female staff
members that go beyond the call of duty, every day, with every project
that we have received and executed.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle was starting from nothing . It was failing to complete a project because I had no funding and had to also hire out plant (Tlb) to commence the job .Not having financial support when I started was hard but it pushed us to work hard . Also Covid hit us hard as we had a team of 5 at that time and had to let go of all the staff members .
