Reel Life NPC
What does your company do?
Reel is a green enterprise that makes growing food simple, water-wise, and accessible.
Our patented seed tape, a biodegradable, pre-fertilized planting strip that simplifies gardening, saves water, and increases germination rates. This simple yet powerful innovation has been distributed across thousands of households and schools, addressing real-world issues like hunger, malnutrition, and unemployment. Our products have helped households, schools, and communities plant nutritious gardens with ease.
We offer a range of products, from Household Garden Boxes to School Garden Kits and Tunnel Farming Solutions, all designed to improve food security, boost nutrition, and support entrepreneurship across the country.
Reel empowers people to grow their own food with dignity, confidence, and sustainability.
What is your biggest success?
My biggest success has been turning a simple school project into a product that has birthed a scalable food security solution that is now changing lives. Building a team that understands and grows my mission to tackle food poverty in this country has also been quite a feat.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
As a female founder and CEO in a male-dominated agriculture and innovation space, I have had to continually prove my credibility, advocate for women in leadership, and carry the weight of leading a mission-driven organisation through uncertain terrain. Convincing stakeholders that a simple biodegradable strip can truly lead to improved food security, nutrition, and income has required ongoing education and advocacy, particularly in communities where scepticism or misunderstanding about the product is common.
Growing the enterprise without compromising the integrity of its social mission has been a delicate balancing act. I have had to innovate sustainably, build trust with communities, and ensure the organisation doesn’t drift toward commercial priorities at the expense of grassroots empowerment.
