What does your company do?
Ten Feet is a South African brand that manufactures women's shoes including sandals, sneakers, mules, loafers and pumps.
They are all made in South Africa using material that is locally sourced as far as possible. These shoes combine high quality leather with precision craftsmanship to ensure we produce footwear that are as beautiful as they are comfortable.
What is your biggest success?
The overall growth of the business over the last 5 years has exceed my expectations. Turning this young girls dream into a reality, and ultimately into a business and a brand that is recognised, is one of my greatest achievements yet.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
The greatest hurdle came early on in the business. While building a client base and have a few steady orders coming through, I was told that my current manufacturer would not be continuing with us as he was bought out by a competitor. Having very little insight into the industry at that stage, I was faced with the big task of having to find a new factory whilst given 2 weeks notice.
Not only was this daunting as a new business owner in the footwear industry, it was also extremely inconvenient as orders had to be placed on hold while stock was moved and the new team was instructed on how to manufacture for our brand.
Nevertheless, I have been blessed with a factory who has continued to produce shoes of an exceptional quality that has helped Ten Feet grow to where it is today.
