Hazile Group (Pty) Ltd
What does your company do?
Hazile Group is a purpose-driven business that delivers sustainable solutions in water, agriculture, and renewable energy — with people and the planet at the heart of everything we do.
I started Hazile with a clear mission: to respond to the real challenges I witnessed in SA and underserved communities — from lack of clean water and food insecurity to unreliable energy and rising unemployment. As someone deeply rooted in both the business and community space, I knew we needed solutions that were not only innovative but inclusive and scalable.
Today, through our three focused divisions — Hazile Water & Sanitation, Hazile Agriculture, and Hazile Energy — we design and implement practical, eco-conscious systems that make everyday life better:
We recycle and purify water using green, chemical-free technology for homes and local businesses industries
We grow high-nutrition herbs and vegetables using hydroponics — a water-smart, pesticide-free method that also supports food security and health.
We provide clean energy alternatives like solar solutions to reduce dependency on harmful fuels and improve access in off-grid areas.
Hazile is not just a business — it's a vehicle for change. We are committed to reinvesting in the communities we serve, creating jobs, upskilling local talent, and helping Africa transition into a greener, more resilient future. t our core, we are a social enterprise, balancing impact with growth. Every product or service we offer is designed not only to create jobs and generate income, but to improve lives and restore dignity in the communities we serve.
What is your biggest success?
My greatest achievement has been completing my Doctorate, driven by my passion for empowering women in agriculture. My research focused on understanding the challenges women farmers face in adopting technology, and how these barriers can be overcome to help women-owned agribusinesses thrive. This work has directly informed the solutions we offer through Hazile Group.
However, the real success lies in seeing Hazile evolve into a business that actively serves communities. Through the integration of sustainable water, agriculture, and energy solutions, we’ve empowered women, youth, and local entrepreneurs, helping them create long-term livelihoods. The greatest fulfillment comes from watching these communities grow, develop, and gain the tools to change their own futures. For me, this is the true definition of success: creating a lasting, positive impact where it’s needed most
What has been your biggest hurdle?
One of my greatest hurdles has been navigating the complexities of being a woman in sectors traditionally dominated by men — agriculture, water, and energy. As a founder, securing funding and grants for my business and for the women and youth we aim to empower has been a constant challenge. The financial barriers I face in accessing capital limit my ability to scale Hazile Group’s impact and support more women-led businesses in agriculture.
Despite the corporate social responsibility (CSR) donations from my own business, it’s not enough to extend comprehensive development programs for women and youth who want to enter agribusiness. Without access to sustainable funding and grants, providing adequate training, mentorship, and resources for these entrepreneurs remains difficult. Overcoming these financial hurdles is key to unlocking the potential of these communities and creating long-lasting, self-sustaining businesses.
These challenges underscore the need for targeted interventions that promote gender equality, financial inclusion, and access to resources in agriculture. Addressing these issues is crucial for empowering women and fostering sustainable agricultural development.
