What does your company do?
Gurudatta Agro is a pioneering organic farming enterprise dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture in South Africa. We focus on growing a wide variety of certified organic crops using natural, chemical-free methods that protect soil health, water resources, and biodiversity. Our goal is to provide nutritious, eco-friendly food to local communities while empowering farmers through education, training, and support. By championing regenerative practices, we aim to strengthen South Africa’s food systems, support rural livelihoods, and contribute to a healthier planet. We also have an online nursery focusing on supplying good quality fruit trees and root stocks to fellow farmers
What is your biggest success?
We have been certifies by SAOSO for Organic Certification. Our products are now recognized for their quality.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle has been ensuring that our organic products reach a wider audience while also securing the right market and fair prices. As organic farming is still growing in South Africa, market access remains limited and often fragmented. Reaching consumers who truly understand and value organic produce has required ongoing education, marketing, and trust-building. At the same time, ensuring that we receive a fair price for the efforts—despite competition from cheaper, non-organic alternatives—has been a persistent challenge.
