Peo Empowerment and Development Foundation NPC
What does your company do?
Peo Empowerment and Development Foundation NPC is a women- and youth-led nonprofit organisation dedicated to transforming lives through empowerment, education, and sustainable development. Established in 2015, Peo Foundation operates in Gauteng, North West, and the Northern Cape, focusing on grassroots impact across underserved communities.
Our work is anchored in three strategic pillars:
Youth and Women Empowerment : We equip participants with essential life and leadership skills through workshops on personal development, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and holistic wellness.
Educational and Career Development : We run CV writing workshops, mentorship programmes, job readiness training, and provide tutoring and guidance on accessing bursaries and higher education.
Sustainability and Community Upliftment : We support aspiring entrepreneurs and address urgent community needs through resource distribution drives (e.g., school supplies and winter kits).
Every initiative is designed to empower individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds with the tools, knowledge, networks, and opportunities to break generational cycles of poverty and become agents of change against all odds.
What is your biggest success?
Our proudest achievement is the consistent, transformative impact we've made without external funding. Since 2015, we've empowered over 500 individuals across Gauteng, North West, and the Northern Cape through self-funded and community-driven programs.
A standout success was a CV-writing and job-preparation workshop for unemployed youth in the North West several participants secured their first interviews and job placements. But beyond employment, we’ve coached despondent young people who had lost hope. Even when jobs didn’t come immediately, they emerged resilient, motivated, and proactive seizing opportunities like remote work and short-term gigs with renewed confidence.
We've also run personal development and entrepreneurship workshops for women, sparking micro-enterprises and self-belief. Our annual school supply and winter kit drives, health and wellness talks, and mentorship efforts continue to meet real, evolving community needs.
Partnering with Bokone-Bontle has brought professional coaching into our programming, expanding both our reach and depth of impact. This journey proves that with purpose, consistency, and trust, social change doesn’t wait for funding it begins with action.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Our biggest hurdle has been access to funding and resources to scale our impact. As a grassroots NPC without institutional backing, we’ve had to self-fund or rely on small donations to run our programs. This often limits the frequency and reach of our initiatives and means we sometimes postpone impactful ideas due to financial constraints.
Another challenge is balancing ambition with operational capacity. With no full-time employees, we work with 3 dedicated youth volunteers who help run programs. While their energy and growth have been inspiring, we need sustainable funding to build a formal team and scale our efforts.
Despite these limitations, our resolve remains strong. These hurdles have shaped us into agile problem-solvers and every program we manage to deliver is a testament to community resilience and our commitment to impact over perfection.
