African Female Voices
What does your company do?
African Female Voices is an NPO and platform dedicated to amplifying the voices of African women by showcasing their work in various industries, profiling their businesses and impact, as well as ensuring that the stories are written for African Women by African women in an authentic way. We focus on editorial work on our website, collaborating with NPOs for offline projects and running our own projects. We also use our social media accounts to share the work of likeminded brilliant African women.
What is your biggest success?
My greatest achievement was being able to source and work with likeminded women across Africa (Kenya, Botswana, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Ghana) who share the vision and form part of our core team handling social media, editorial work and offline projects. We have been able to highlight, through collaboration, important advocacy work done in Female Genital Mutilation, worked with NPOs for GBV advocacy, and our spotlight project called bold African voices which celebrates 30 women in different fields across Africa making a difference.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Working with no funding and not having physically met my team. We also sometimes have cultural differences which we try and resolve as soon as possible so we don’t have blockers.
