What does your company do?
Open Door Community Foundation is a purpose-driven social enterprise focused on youth development, mentorship, and women empowerment. We recently launched our SheConnect: Beauty, Business and Beyond movement, which offers mentorship and coaching to girls and women of all ages. Our work includes youth mentorship, beauty skills training, psychosocial support, mommy wellness and creating safe, empowering spaces through monthly networking sessions. We are passionate about helping individuals grow in purpose, confidence, and impact.
What is your biggest success?
My greatest achievement is transforming lives through purpose-driven mentorship and empowerment. As founder of Open Door Community Foundation, I’ve mentored youth across 36 areas as part of the City of Cape Town Mayoral Program in 2019 - 2021, and empowered over 250 beauty students since November 2023, and launched SheConnect: Beauty, Business and Beyond to uplift women and girls through coaching, skills training, and psychosocial support.
In 2024, I was honored as one of the Top 3 Visionary Leaders by Radio Good Hope FM, and one of the young women I mentored received their Young Achiever Award.
My proudest moments are seeing individuals rise above their circumstances, discover their identity, and walk boldly in their purpose. That is the true measure of my success.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
My biggest hurdle was navigating purpose after personal loss especially losing my mother in 2018, who was my anchor, prayer warrior, and strength. Her passing left a deep void, yet it pushed me to rise stronger and continue the work we both believed in: empowering others.
Another challenge has been running a nonprofit with limited resources, often having to step out in faith, trusting God to provide while still showing up for the communities I serve. Balancing motherhood, leadership, and ministry while pouring into others hasn’t been easy but it’s grown my resilience.
There were moments I wanted to give up, but I remembered my calling, the lives depending on my obedience, and the legacy my mother left behind. My hurdles have become stepping stones, shaping me into the woman and purpose pusher I am today.
