Brandfundi (Pty) Ltd.
What does your company do?
PR & Brand Communications
What is your biggest success?
One of Brandfundi’s greatest successes lies in its partnership with Rainbow Chicken Ltd., managing their Corporate Communications account during a pivotal period of organisational unbundling and rebranding. As a trusted strategic advisor, Brandfundi shaped internal and external narratives, elevated Rainbow’s thought leadership, and developed integrated communication strategies that reflected the brand’s evolution. This high-stakes engagement exemplified our core strengths: hands-on senior counsel, rapid execution without compromise, and messaging with meaning.
What began as a bold boutique agency founded by Michelle Cavé in her home has transformed into an award-winning reputation management firm, celebrated across South Africa. Through resilience, insight, and an unrelenting commitment to quality, Brandfundi has not only shaped reputations but redefined public relations as “people relations.”
Supporting some of the country’s most recognised brands, Brandfundi remains proof that you don’t need to be big to be powerful—you just need to care deeply and think strategically.
What has been your biggest hurdle?
Michelle Cavé’s biggest hurdle came at the very start of her entrepreneurial journey, when she was retrenched from her corporate role and suddenly found herself a single mother with no income and everything to prove. With no safety net, she turned adversity into opportunity, founding Brandfundi from her home with a laptop, industry experience, and unwavering determination.
The challenge didn’t end there. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Brandfundi lost 80% of its income overnight. Instead of retreating, Cavé used the setback to restructure the business, strengthen internal systems, and refine the agency’s brand promise.
These trials shaped Brandfundi into what it is today: a resilient, award-winning agency defined by its integrity, agility, and personal investment in every client. Michelle’s ability to lead through crisis—with clarity, compassion, and tenacity—proves that setbacks don’t define a career, but how you rise from them does.
